About me — calm, personal and tailored
I'm Marieke Meeske, an IBCLC lactation consultant in Zwolle and surroundings. My passion is supporting families with everything around feeding their little one.
I believe every mother deserves guidance that fits her own situation, wishes and family. Breastfeeding can be a beautiful experience, but it can also bring uncertainty, pain or questions. In those moments I want to offer calm, confidence and practical help.
In my approach I look not only at the feeding itself, but at your family as a whole. Together we look for a solution that works and feels right. Whether it's getting started with breastfeeding, painful feeds, restless drinking, pumping, bottle refusal or other challenges — you don't have to figure it out alone.
I work in a calm, low-threshold and personal way. I also value collaborating with other care providers, so you receive the best possible support. My goal is for you to move forward with more confidence — in a way that suits you and your family.
I'm married and a mother of three wonderful children. When I became a mother myself, I was fascinated by how special breastfeeding is. Breastfeeding is so much more than just nutrition: it's closeness, contact, comfort, trust and connection. At the same time I noticed how many questions and uncertainties can arise in those first weeks.
As a paediatric nurse I've supported young families for years. My interest in breastfeeding and lactation support kept growing, which led me to complete the IBCLC training. Today I combine my experience as a paediatric nurse with my work as a lactation consultant. That means I look not only at the feeding, but at your baby's development, your family situation and what's practically achievable for you.

Services and rates
Your story is at the heart of every consultation. I take the time to listen carefully, observe, and look together for what works for you and your baby. Afterwards you receive a written report by email, and you can make use of a week of WhatsApp contact about this consultation.
Many health insurers reimburse lactation consultations in full or in part through supplementary insurance. You can submit my invoice to your insurer; they then transfer the reimbursement you're entitled to under your policy to your own account. What I stand for
Moedersmelk stands for personal and expert support in feeding your little one. Every parent, baby and situation is different. That's why I look not only at the feeding, but also at what's going on for you, your baby and your family. I think it's important that you feel heard and that we make a tailored plan together.
What I want to achieve
My goal is for mothers and families to feed their little one with confidence and joy. Breastfeeding doesn't have to be perfect, and you don't have to do it alone. I want to help recognise problems early, find practical solutions, and make feeding feel manageable, pleasant and right again.
How I do it
I offer lactation support in Zwolle and surroundings. During a consultation I take the time to listen, observe, and look together for what works for you and your baby. I do this with expert advice, practical tips and personal support that fits your own situation. So you can move forward with confidence.
Who is it for?
For expectant parents, mothers and families in Zwolle and surroundings who want support in feeding their little one. Both during pregnancy as preparation for feeding, and after birth when you may run into questions or uncertainties. I'm happy to think along with you.

Frequently asked questions
Questions or concerns around breastfeeding: painful feeds, uncertainty about your milk supply or your baby's growth, latch difficulties, restless drinking, pumping, bottle refusal or learning the bottle, mixed feeding, weaning, or combining breastfeeding with work. Also when the start hasn't gone as hoped — prematurity, hospital admission, tongue-tie questions, reflux, multiples — I'm happy to think along with you.
You can also come to me during pregnancy. A prenatal consultation helps you start breastfeeding well prepared and with more confidence. We discuss how breastfeeding works, what to expect in the first days and how to give yourself a good start. We also look at your personal situation: previous breastfeeding experiences, a breast reduction or augmentation, medical particulars, a planned caesarean, a multiple pregnancy or concerns after an earlier difficult start. A prenatal consultation can take place at your home or online.
Beforehand you receive a short questionnaire, so I already have a picture of your situation when I arrive. During the visit at your home, it helps if your baby will feed — so I can watch a feed in practice. We discuss your story in depth, and if you'd like I do an oral assessment and weigh the baby. Then we make a plan together. I send you the written report by email afterwards.
Hopefully you can move forward with the advice and breastfeed with more confidence and joy. We stay in touch and schedule a (free) phone follow-up where you can ask any remaining questions.
Most health insurers reimburse lactation consultations in full or partially through supplementary insurance. You can submit my invoice to your insurer; they then transfer the reimbursement you're entitled to under your policy to your own account. See an overview of coverage or contact me — I'm happy to look it up for you.
Sometimes care is needed that lies outside my role as a lactation consultant. In that case I refer to your GP, midwife, baby health doctor, paediatrician or pre-speech therapist — for example with acute or medical complaints, fever, severe pain, poor growth, sleepiness or dehydration. In an emergency, always contact your GP, midwife, out-of-hours service or 112.
I'm a member of the NVL (Dutch Association of Lactation Consultants) and passed the IBCLC exam in December 2024. Regular (mandatory) continuing education keeps me up to date with the latest insights. As an IBCLC I follow the WHO code: parents should be able to choose how they feed their child, free from commercial influence.
I do my best to give you the best possible care. If you're unhappy about something, please contact me — we'll look for a solution together. I'm also affiliated with Klachtenportaal Zorg, which mediates if we can't resolve it between us.
